November 3rd, 2021 by

The all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra marks the 3rd-generation and the most powerful, capable and advanced Tundra yet. With a rugged new look, the choice of a hybrid engine, and more off-road equipment, including a TRD Pro model, the 2022 Toyota Tundra runs the competition right off the trail. And on-road, enjoy a smoother ride, more refined handling and an upscale cabin packed with the latest technology and premium materials. This unique body-on-frame pickup rides more like an SUV but will tow up to 12,000 pounds with ease. Get ready for the future of work-and-play in the all-new 2022 Tundra, proudly built in the USA.

New Look

Completely redesigned for the 2022 model year, the new Toyota Tundra now looks as tough as it drives. A large front grille, new LED lights, and a beefed up exterior enhance the new Tundra pickup’s appeal. Inside, the cabin gets overhauled, featuring more soft-touch materials, an available panoramic moonroof, leather-trimmed heated and ventilated seating, and versatile storage cubbies. The 2022 Tundra is available in two body styles (DoubleCab, CrewMax) and three tuck bed lengths (5.5 foot, 6.5 foot, 8.1 foot) across five trims: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794, and TRD Pro.

More Power

For the first time ever, the new Toyota Tundra offers a hybrid powertrain. The i-FORCE MAX features a powerful twin-turbo V6 paired with an electric motor that pumps out 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. The standard twin-turbo V6 i-FORCE gas engine functions more efficiently than the previous V8 and runs with the power of 389 horses and 479 lb-ft of torque. Both engine options mate with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Tow up to 12,000 pounds in the 2022 Toyota Tundra and use new advanced driver-assist technology to connect your trailer, back into tight spaces and more.

Ultimate Capability

Gone are the leaf-springs. A new multi-link rear suspension system with coil springs helps to improve comfort, stability and handling while driving the new Tundra over potholes, bumps and rough terrain. Reinforced aluminum and high-strength steel are utilized in the truck bed and chassis to create a strong, rigid body-on-frame construction that is still lightweight.

The available air suspension features manual and automatic leveling functions to manage ride height based on your needs. Put the suspension on the High setting for slow-speed off-road maneuvering or Low setting to more easily load and unload cargo. The Tundra with air suspension will automatically go back to the Normal setting once it reaches eight mph.

Advanced Technology

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is the most technologically advanced Tundra yet, featuring a host of driver-assist and safety features, plus a suite of towing and off-road technology. Use the available 14-inch multimedia touchscreen and new multi-camera system to expertly pack into parking, hitch a trailer and navigate uneven off-road terrain.

Trailer Back Guidance and Straight Path Assist help guide your truck and trailer in a straight line, Panoramic View Monitor gives you a top-down view of your surroundings, and use Multi-Terrain Monitor on the TRD Pro to check every angle for obstacles on your path. The fan-favorite Power Vertical Rear Window returns and lowers or raises with the push of a button, as does the new power tailgate, which you can control with your key fob!

The new Tundra is also the first Toyota to debut the all-new Audio Multimedia system with Human Machine Interface, five times the processing power and a virtual Intelligent Assistant. Equipped with over-the-air update technology, you can keep your 2022 Toyota Tundra up-to-date for navigation, search and more.

Every new 2022 Tundra features Toyota Safety Sense® 2.5, which features:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Lane Departure Alert
  • Lane Tracing Assist
  • Road Sign Assist
  • Rear Seat Reminder
  • Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert

The 2022 Tundra now offers an ultra-0ff-road capable TRD Pro model, only available with the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, featuring FOX® shocks, a TRD Pro front stabilizer bar, TRD Pro aluminum front skid plates and all-terrain Falken tires. The 2022 Tundra TRD Pro comes equipped with Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control.
